The two models

Two ways to bring geneXplain into your project

Both put our science and the TRANSFAC stack inside your consortium. They differ only in how we sit in the grant and how much administration it takes to get there.

Best when you want our expertise and TRANSFAC in the project without adding a full partner.

We work under one or several of the project partners and are listed as a subcontractor in the grant budget. We deliver defined services, for example, gene regulatory network behind the multi-omics data analysis, and provide TRANSFAC licences to the partners who need them.

Whichever model you choose, geneXplain brings the gold standard in transcriptional regulation into your project, together with the full toolbox built around it. Flexible licensing lets individual partners or the whole consortium to work in our secure cloud infrastructure or implement an on premises solution.

TRANSFAC

the gold standard database of eukaryotic transcription factors, their binding sites and DNA-binding profiles; an encyclopedia of transcriptional regulation and a tool for finding TF binding sites in your genes’ regulatory regions.

Match & site analysis

scan promoters and regulatory regions for TF binding sites using TRANSFAC’s curated position weight matrices.

Upstream Analysis

geneXplain’s signature approach: promoter + pathway analysis to find the master regulators driving the studied biological process, not just the genes that changed.

GeneXplain is a highly active biomedical research company. We can own the multi-omics analysis work package of any complexity, from raw data quality control to the identified molecular mechanisms of the studied pathology, coupled with in silico prediction of the drugs and compounds acting on its key regulators.

Our experts hold superior expertise in bioinformatics, systems biology, and AI / machine learning. Our in-house Upstream Analysis integrates promoter and pathway analysis to reconstruct molecular mechanisms and it is the approach behind more than a decade of funded projects.

From proposal to award in four steps

  1. Tell us your call

    Share the funding call, the deadline, the topic, and the shape of your consortium.

  2. We pick the model with you

    Subcontractor or full partner; we advise honestly on what the call and consortium need.

  3. We help you write it in

    A cost budget line or a work package description, our SME / partner text, CVs, and a TRANSFAC licensing plan for the consortium.

  4. On award

    We deliver licences provisioned for the partners who need them, analysis under way, and (if a partner) our work package running.

FAQ

Yes, if we are full-fledged partners of the project we provide the licenses to all partners at no additional cost.

If we are subcontractors in the project, and if the project partners require access to our licensed products, you can budget the licences into your grant application in advance so they are covered by the awarded funding, or obtain them from us at any time on request.

geneXplain is a German SME and has been a partner or coordinator in many EU and national consortia over more than a decade. As a full partner we count directly as an SME beneficiary; as a subcontractor we contribute under the contracting partner.

Both. Where you cannot use the secure cloud, we support local installation of the requested products with due security protocols.

As early as possible during proposal writing, so the budget line or work package and the licensing plan are all right before the submission. We can also join ongoing projects or provide licences at any time.
